Overcoming challenges makes life worthwhile

Overcoming challenges makes life worthwhile.

Yes, it’s true. Because in pursuing a better life, you will be challenged. Virtually everything truly worthwhile in life is challenging. Relationships, meaningful career, and personal purpose, raising children, getting and being healthy, achieving a significant goal or ambition. The list goes on.

The key to overcoming the challenge of a challenge is all about how you regard it. If you groan and moan it becomes even more challenging. We make it worse than it is.

On the other hand, if we stay focused and connected to the why, why we’re doing it, why we want it, why we need it and then regard all of the challenges through a lens of gratitude, the results are amazing.

Here’s was a recent mental rumination I had regarding my own challenges and why’s.

I’m so glad to be doing this (New Way Forward).

So much of it has been harder than I thought it would be.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Looking at a mountain of things to do and learn along and enduring the accompanying stress and frustration.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Putting in super long days and working weekends.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Thinking WTF 20 times a day and the number is increasing.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Overcoming decades of habits and methods that no longer serve me.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Digging deep into myself, identifying old crap and blockages that prevent my total success.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Ridding myself of the “imposter syndrome”. Who the hell am I to do this?

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Putting myself out there for all to see, judge, and (gulp) perhaps ridicule.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Learning and doing so many things I don’t want to do and I am not good at doing.

I’m so glad to be doing this.

Feeling the stress of a high-speed clicking clock while my progress is in slow motion.

Why am I’m so glad to be doing this?

Because the struggles provide the contrast to make the successes so much more meaningful.

Why am I’m so glad to be doing this?

Because every day I feel the joy of doing it, having a purpose and fulfilling a passion.

Why am I’m so glad to be doing this?

Because I am going for it! I will have the satisfaction that I went for it, not death bed disappointment and regret.

Why am I’m so glad to be doing this?

Because I am meeting and working with amazing people and receiving incredible support and validation every day.

Why am I’m so glad to be doing this?

Because I already know I am making an impact.

Why am I’m so glad to be doing this?

Because I know that what I am doing is the healthiest thing I can do for my mind, body and spirit.

Why I’m so glad to share this with you?

Because what I am going through validates the central theme to NewWayFwd.com.

Because anything worthwhile in life is challenging.

Because the joy is in the journey. The incremental successes, people you engage, and amazing moments.

Because this latter phase of life and the disruption we’re going through can provide us with the greatest opportunity of our lives.

Because the angst of existential situations is bridled by focusing on what you’re accomplishing and can control.

Because there is more to our existence than the default life and a bucket list. Each one of us is capable of infinitely more than we can fathom.

Because you too can say, “I’m so glad to be doing this.”

Yes! Overcoming challenges makes life worthwhile.

Quote worth pondering: Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes them meaningful.” Anonymous
